Over a longer session, the total wins from bonuses will add up nicely and provide a consistent cash flow. Getting little wins during a session helps break up the dry patches you sometimes experience and makes the game feel more alive, rather than grinding away at it. This creates multiple opportunities for more wins from just one spin. Each win clears symbols from the board, allowing new ones to drop into place. Even if you never get a bonus, you can still have loads of fun and make your balance go up and down nicely due to the tumbles, one of Sweet Bonanza’s most exciting features.

We received 98 responses to the consultation, including 46 individual respondents and 52 from organisations. Operators currently offer stakes from as little as one penny per spin, and we would expect a range of staking options far below the maximum to remain available. We believe these limits will achieve the government’s stated objectives of reducing the risk of gambling-related harm, with a lower risk of unintended consequences and less disruption to the majority of gamblers who do not suffer harm.

Several industry respondents provided suggestions for the length of time required to implement stake limits. Some industry respondents highlighted that a single stake limit would be easier to implement than 2 separate limits. Many of the comments and supplementary evidence focused on the positive impact of a stake limit on those either directly or indirectly affected by gambling-related harm. Several industry respondents suggested that implementation for a separate stake limit would take over 9 months. These respondents suggested that a separate stake limit for young adults would require extensive development by operators and software providers and would be far more complex and costly to implement than a universal limit.
